Editing and iMac
As a very important part of creating our music video, Ceri and I have experiment what media technology is best for the editing aspect of our process. To create our storyboard animatic and our draft video Ceri and I used the software of Videopad. Although we were more un-familiar with Videopad we wanted to try a more versatile software with more features to allow us to create the best product possible. Although we did create our draft video successfully with this software, we did experience some problems especially when it came to uploading our video to YouTube. Due to the fact we hadn’t used any features on Videopad that aren’t possible on iMovie, we are more confident and capable on iMovie and the far more accessible uploading to YouTube on iMovie Ceri and I chose to edit our final video on iMovie. By experimenting and trying different media technologies Ceri and I were able to find what technologies we were best at and suited our abilities the most. iMovie allowed Ceri and I to confidently edit our music video and to try different transitions as this software’s less complicated format and layout meant that Ceri and I found iMovie easier to understand. Ceri and I chose to mainly use the Cross Dissolve transition as we felt this matches the theme and tone of our video the most, with the softer, more delicate effects. Importantly, iMovie provided us with a simple way to upload our video, which was vital to this process and this feature of uploading straight to YouTube was very helpful to us. Throughout the use of both editing software’s all of the editing took place on Ceri’s iMac; we chose to complete all the editing on a personal laptop as this created ease for editing, not just limiting us to one room within the school. Not only were Ceri and I able to edit in our own time but the use of an iMac perfectly complimented the use of iMovie and the ease of YouTube. By using media technologies that all link and connect together Ceri and I were able to edit with more ease and confidence, which worked to aid and improve our final product.
